Visuals
The Slormancer features classic pixel art with a colorful and chaotic style. While it’s not the most polished or detailed, the effects during combat are flashy enough to make fights feel impactful. Environments and enemies can get a bit repetitive over time, but the visuals still do a decent job of supporting the fast-paced action.
Gameplay
The gameplay is fast and fluid. At the beginning, you choose between three classes: Knight, Archer, and Mage. Shortly after, you can complete two optional quests to unlock the remaining two classes. Once unlocked, you can freely switch between them in the village.
Each class comes with a wide range of customization options. You can level up your attributes, weapons, and individual skills. Every skill has its own talent tree, and each class offers three specializations. You can respec everything at any time, making build variety one of the game’s biggest strengths.
There are plenty of weapons to collect, each with its own unique effect. Weapons can also be leveled up and enhanced with runes, adding even more depth to your build.
Progression and Content
The game starts off very easy, but you unlock higher difficulty levels later on to increase the challenge. Beating the story takes about 7 to 8 hours, but there are additional activities available afterward to keep going.
Design and World
Enemy diversity is one of the weaker aspects of the game. Many encounters feel repetitive, and the grind sets in fairly early. The pixel art style doesn’t offer much variety, which makes the game world feel a bit bland over time.
Performance and Price
The game runs well and is priced fairly at 20€, especially considering how much time you can invest into different builds and progression systems.
Verdict
7.5 out of 10
The Slormancer is a fun and casual ARPG with fantastic build variety. While it lacks enemy diversity and can become quite grindy, its deep class and skill systems make it a great choice for players who enjoy experimenting with different playstyles. If you’re looking for something you can sink dozens of hours into, this is worth checking out.
